Ann Louise (Fritz) Candor passed away on March 8, 2012. She was born on the 4th of July, 1924 to Frank and Celestine Fritz. Ann was the 7th of 15 children born on the farm near Cummings ND. Ann and her siblings attended a one room school house through 8th grade and she was the first in her family to go to high school. She graduated from West Fargo High School in 1943. Ann and Wayne (Doc) Candor were married on January 3, 1946 right after Doc was discharged from the Navy as a pilot. They shared 33 years of a wonderful marriage until Doc’s death in 1979. Ann and Doc loved to play bridge, travel the world to exotic locales, and had many life-long friends. Ann and Doc were the proud parents of three children – Catherine (Thomas) Naerebout of Vero Beach FL, Cheryl (Richard) Narum of Fargo and Vero Beach FL and Steven (Judy) of Fargo. She is also survived by two grandchildren – Jolene Candor of Fargo and Wade (Garland) Candor of Frisco, TX. Ann was a stay at home mom with her children until Mark Andrews was first elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1963. She went to work in his district office in Fargo and remained there while he was in the House and later the Senate until her retirement in 1985. Retirement bored her and so she soon began working with CCV Software, the company her two daughters had founded. She finally retired for good in 2000. Ann and Doc enjoyed spending time at their lake home outside Park Rapids, MN. They looked forward to the peace and solitude of long weekends away from their hectic work schedules and had neither telephone nor television to interrupt the tranquility. After her retirement, Ann spent summers at the lakes. With all of those brothers and sisters, family was a huge part of Ann’s life. Family gatherings were large noisy events full of food, fun and laughter. Ann is survived by five siblings – Madelyn Stringer, Eileen (Ted) Warren, Larry (Judy) Fritz, Matthew Fritz and Sylvester (Lola) Fritz and sister-in-law, Sharon Fritz. Ann led an active life until a massive stroke in December of 2007 took away her speech and ability to walk but not her spirit and positive outlook. She had an easy smile and a way of communicating with others nonverbally. She loved her friends and the dedicated staff at Edgewood Vista and particularly enjoyed weekend coffee hours with home baked cookies provided by daughter , Cheryl. Ann was a member of Gethsemane Cathedral. For Ann the 4th of July was always a special celebration shared with friends and family. This year will no exception. There will be no funeral but rather a celebration of Ann’s life will be held this summer. Memorials can be sent to Big Sand Lake Association P.O. Box 181 Park Rapids, MN 56470 to support and sustain the lake she loved so much.
