Amy Ihnken

Amy M. Ihnken, 89 of Argusville, ND, died Friday, September 4, 2009 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Arthur, ND. Amy Foss was born January 29, 1920 to Albert and Emma (Stigen) Foss in Trail County, ND. She attended school at Caledonia, ND. Amy left her family home at the age of 15. She lived in the Hillsboro area working for a family doing household activities and doing daycare for numerous families, at one time taking care of 21 children. She met and married William Ihnken in Hillsboro. They were married on September 20, 1941. She moved to and lived near Argusville, ND. She worked along side her husband farming. She was a life long member of Osterdalen Lutheran Church. She was involved in and enjoyed working at every luncheon or Church celebration throughout the years, always willing to help. She was an active member of the Argusville/Gardner Auxiliary where she enjoyed going to meetings and working on making bibs and lap quilts for the soldiers of the VA. She also enjoyed going to the noon senior activities and lunch at the Harwood Legion. One of her favorite activities was going to a friend’s house and quilting or helping out canning. She loved to visit, and always had the coffee pot on. Amy was preceded in death by her husband Bill on December 5, 1993 and two infant children. She is survived by her children Walt (Sandra) Ihnken, Palmer Ihnken, Donald Ihnken, Donna (Don) Burley, Emily/Shorty (David) Radebaugh and sisters, Verna Swenson, Gilma Faires, Bernice Rude, JoAnn Rude and Rene Munter. She was proud of her 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren. During the spring flood of this year she moved to the Good Samaritan Home in Arthur, ND. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Good Samaritan Home in Arthur. She appreciated all the hugs, kisses and the care and compassion from the staff and loved all the new friends that she met at the home. Funeral: Tuesday, September 8, 2009, 2:00 PM at Nora Lutheran Church, Gardner, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church Burial: Osterdalen Cemetery, Argusville, ND.
