Amos Kenneth Flaagan

Amos Kenneth Flaagan, 84, of Fargo ND, passed away Friday, December 6, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo surrounded by his family.

Kenny was born December 21, 1928 on the family farm near Pekin, ND. He was the youngest child of Martin and Gina (Thorson) Flaagan. He enlisted in the US Air Force and was stationed at Fairchild AFB at Spokane WA. Following discharge, he joined the 119th Fighter Wing of the North Dakota Air National Guard (the Happy Hooligans) as a hydraulic mechanic. He retired in quality control at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant after 35 years of service.

He married Constance Hanson on June 22, 1952 at Pekin Lutheran Church in Pekin. Their 61-year marriage was blessed with five children.

An avid outdoorsman, Kenny enjoyed hunting and fishing and spent 35 years at their lake cabin at Little Cormorant Lake, including tending his large garden. He owned and refurbished a number of John Deere tractors and was a member of the Two-Cylinder Club, showing his tractors at the Steam Threshers Reunion at Rollag MN. He was a regular pinochle player at the Fargo Senior Center. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He and Connie have been members at Messiah Lutheran Church since its very early years. Kenny was a member of the Fargo American Legion, Sons of Norway, Golden K Kiwanis and NDANG Enlisted Association.

Kenny is survived by his wife, Connie; four children, Bruce Flaagan, San Diego, CA, Craig (Cheryl) Flaagan, Fargo, Michelle (Grant) Richardson, Fargo, and Bradley Flaagan, Moorhead; six grandchildren, Nick (Kelly) Richardson, Megan Richardson, Erich Richardson, Jordan Richardson, Kari Flaagan and Duley Hook; and three great-grandchildren, Nora, Anders and Reagan Richardson. He is also survived by his sister Amy Aaser, Detroit Lakes, MN.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters, Gilman, Benhard, Gordon, Gordon, Erva and Irene, one son, Randy Flaagan, and grandson Aaron Richardson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Messiah Hour of Worship.
