Amie Jean Dexter died peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at age 88. She led a “Gal Friday” life as an Indispensable organizer and communicator who flawlessly executed, attended, and enlightened important life events for all she touched.
Amie will be remembered as a positive and passionate cheerleader for others… community, companions, church, children, and Carson Wentz (!)… hence, she cast a wide net of friends and accolades. A memorable grade schoolteacher in her childhood home of Lancaster, MN. Insurance Woman of the Year with a thirty-one year insurance career. President of Friends of the Opera with national partners in excellence award highlighting her ability to bring enlightenment, opera stars, and funds, to the beautiful art of F-M Opera. Co-Chair of annual Olivet-Nativity Christmas dinner serving over 400 people. A force for scholarships for women as President of PEO Sisters. Loyal Dragon who supported scholarships after graduating in Elementary Education from MSUM (Teachers College). Meticulous manager of Chez Susanne, a former bed and breakfast in Fargo.
We will miss her scrumptious pies and elaborate gingerbread houses, crossword puzzle compositions, knitting of numerous afghans, and undying enthusiasm to laugh, love, dance, and participate in life.
A memorial service will be held at Olivet Lutheran Church, 1330 S Univ Drive Fargo, ND at 3:00 pm, Thursday, April 15, 2021 with visitation beginning at 2pm. Masks are mandatory and social distancing will be observed. The service will also be livestreamed at
