Amalie Rieger, 98 of Fargo, died Saturday, August 16, 2008 at her home in Fargo under the care of her sister Emelia and Hospice of the Red River Valley. Amalie was born on March 24, 1910 to David and Rosina (Bechtold) Schlittenhard and raised near Gackle, ND. She worked for JC Penny’s in Bismarck, ND for 5 years. She married Walter Rieger on June 18, 1935 in Gackle, ND. They lived in Bismarck. They moved to Fargo in 1938. During WWII they lived in Washington and California. In 1946 they moved back to Fargo where they owned and operated apartment buildings in Fargo. During retirement they lived in Mesa, AZ in the winter and Fargo in the summer. Walter died in 1989. She is survived by her sister, Emelia Schlittenhard, Fargo, ND; three grandchildren, Mark Weisser, Jill (Kevin) King, and Kristine Weisser; son-in-law, Charles Weisser and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Audrey Weisser and siblings, David, Katherine, Karl, Edward, Ruth and Robert. Funeral: Wednesday, July 20, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Calvary Church at Village Green, 2801 Village Green Blvd., Moorhead, MN. Visitation: One hour prior to services at the church. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
