Alyce C. Robinson, long time Baudette resident, passed away on July 29, 2019 in Fargo at the age of 90. Alyce was born August 7, 1928 in Baudette, MN to John and Emmy Tangreen. She was the eldest of three daughters; sister to Marian Murray and Rosemary Benson. Alyce graduated from Baudette High School in 1946 and enrolled at St. Cloud State. Midway through college at St. Cloud State, Alyce and Stoddard Robinson returned to Baudette and were married on August 31, 1948 at First Lutheran Church in Baudette. Following graduation, Alyce and Stoddard moved back to their hometown, Baudette, and started Stoddard’s Variety Store which eventually became the Ben Franklin Store and Gift Box. Alyce was quite the socialite and active in many community organizations and events. She assisted Stoddard with the buying of the Gift Box where they traveled to merchandise and gift shows. She was also a part of the Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star, Red Hat Club, Bridge Club, Hobby Club, Ladies Golf at Oak Harbor Golf Course, and an active member of the First Lutheran Church in Baudette. Alyce had a gift of hosting and entertaining events, planning every last detail from menu to décor. Her door was always open and you were always invited for “happy” hour. Alyce loved her time in Maui, HI and took hula lessons, ceramic classes, and hosted “Puu-puu” parties for friends and family. In 2010, Alyce moved to Fargo to be closer to her only child and daughter, Shelley and family. She resided in a retirement community One Oak Place where she enjoyed socializing with friends and singing in the One Oak Choir. She was involved with Priscilla Circle of Olivet Lutheran Church and attended Town Hall Lectures and Luncheons. Alyce is survived by one daughter, Shelley Weidner of Fargo; granddaughter Kari Ceniceros (Demetrio), of Fargo; sister Rosemary (Robert) Benson, of St. Cloud, MN; sister Marian (James) Murray, Houston, TX; nephews Mike (Laura) Robinson, Todd (Grace) Robinson, Stuart (Cheryll) Benson, Bradley (Jerelyn) Benson, Patrick (Bethany) Benson, Elizabeth (John) Brannan, John Murray: great granddaughter, Eliana Ceniceros and great grandson Noah Ceniceros of Fargo. She was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law Steve Weidner. A memorial service will be held at First Lutheran Church in Baudette on Saturday, October 5th at 10:30 AM. Interment at Elm Park Cemetery in Baudette. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Lutheran Church or LOW Historical Society/Museum in Baudette.
