Allen Bruce Zaeske, 86, died September 13, 2018 at Elim Care Center. He had battled brain cancer for 7 months.
Al was born February 13, 1932, in Fargo to August and Inez (Huseby) Zaeske. He grew up on the family farm attending a one room rural school for 8 years. He graduated from Chaffee High School.
He enrolled at NDAC, but his college education was interrupted when he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He returned to NDAC under the G.I. Bill graduating in 1955. He played football for the Bison.
Al began his career in the Insurance Industry retiring in 1992 as an Assistant Vice President of Great American Insurance Co. In 1989, he received the “Gale Gooden Memorial Award” selected by N.D. Insurance Agents for the outstanding company person of the year.
He was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church since 1967. He was a 65 year continuous member of the American Legion, a member of NDSU Team Maker since 1955, a member of Lions Club, Elks, Y’s Men Club and YMCA.
Al married Charleen Dauner on December 28, 1958. They lived in Fargo where they raised their two sons, Bruce and Kirk.
The family enjoyed summers at their Lake Lizzie cabin. Al & Char spent 22 winters in Green Valley, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his son, Bruce, his parents, brother-in-law, Elmer Fraase, and sister-in-law, Donna Johnson.
He is survived by his wife; son, Kirk, daughter-in-law, Lana Bar, sisters, Ramona Fraase, and Charlotte (Donald) Fauteck, uncle, Vernon (Helen) Huseby, and many nieces and nephews.
