Alice Lorraine Larson, 91, Argusville, ND, passed away on May 11, 2016 at the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck, ND. Alice was born on January 16, 1925 to Axel and Laura (Sondeland) Wendelbo at the family farm, rural Grafton, ND.
She attended Bell Country School and graduated from Grafton High School in 1943. After graduation and during WWII, she worked for the Office of Price Administration (OPA). She subsequently moved to Fargo, ND and worked for Nodak Insurance Co.
On November 26, 1949 she married Burton Larson at the Grafton Lutheran Church. They lived and farmed in Harwood Township, Cass County, ND, until health issues required her and Burton to move to Bismarck to be closer to family. Alice and Burton celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary last November.
Alice was an active member of Nora Lutheran Church and an original member of Harwood Go-Getters Homemakers Club.
Survivors include her husband, Burton Larson; daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Ordean “Lars” Nygren, Bismarck, ND; grandchildren, Maren (Justin) Gerhardt, Mandan, ND, and Andrew Nygren (special friend Holly Voigt), Bismarck, ND; great-grandchildren, Monica, Malayna, Michael and Matthew Gerhardt, Mandan, ND; sister, Laura (John) Carson, Hoople, ND, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her son, Charles Larson; parents; sisters, Helen Wendelbo, Elaine Rutherford, and Marian Manderud; and brother, Marvin Wendelbo.
Memorials are preferred to Nora Lutheran Church or Cemetery, or Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center.
