Alfred E. Ostby of Fargo, ND, at the age of 88, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 7, 2017.
Al was born January 15, 1929 in Benson, MN to Ed and Amy Ostby. Al was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He graduated from Benson High School in 1946. After high school graduation, Al enlisted in the U. S. Army for two years. Upon return from his service, he attended the University of Minnesota graduating in 1951 with a degree in Business Administration and Senior Accounting.
Al and Dottie were united in marriage December 17, 1949. In 1952, they moved to Fargo, ND. From this union, three children were born: Deb, Paul and Cindy. Al worked in various sales positions until ultimately in 1970, he founded Al Ostby and Associates, a manufacturer sales agency selling lawn and garden equipment.
In 1994, Al and Dottie retired to Detroit Lakes, MN where they resided for 26 years. Al was very active at the Lakes Crisis Center for several years. In the fall of 2015 they returned to Fargo. Together Al and Dottie were able to share nearly 68 years of married bliss.
Al is survived by his loving wife and life partner, Dottie; son, Paul (Dianne); daughters, Deb (Brad) Hanson and Cindy (Rob) Kraft; sister, Angie Lee and sister-in-law, Beverly. Al is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marion; brother, Gordon and granddaughter, Lauren.
