Mrs. Agnes O. Braaten passed away January 30, 2007, in Lakota, North Dakota. She had been living at the Lakota Good Samaritan Nursing Home since 2005. Previously, she was a resident at Bethany Towers in Fargo. Aggie was born March 13, 1910, to Otto and Aase Hovde, on the family farm outside of Mayville, ND. She attended school through the eighth grade. She married Theodore Braaten on July 2, 1934, prior to driving West to look for work. Not able to find appropriate work, they drove back and lived in Grand Forks until moving to Fargo in the early 50’s. Aggie worked as a cook at the NDSU Memorial Union Food Services in Fargo and retired from NDSU. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Fargo. Theodore died in November 1975. Aggie is preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Braaten, (1975), her parents, sisters and brothers, Mabel Moen (1971), Orlo Hovde (1914), Orville Hovde (1988), and Irene Kaasa (2002). She is survived by many nieces, a nephew, cousins, great nieces and nephews. A Funeral service will be held at the Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home in Fargo, on Saturday, February 3, at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be sent to Bethany Homes, Peace Lutheran Church, or the Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch.
