Adell I. Korsgaden

Adell Irene Korsgaden, 87, of Fargo, ND died on, August 17, 2012 at Sunnyside Care Center, Lake Park, MN.

Adell Irene Gunderson was born on October 17, 1924 in Twin Valley, MN, the daughter of Melvin and Hildur (Bjerkley) Gunderson.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Zion Church of Twin Valley. She attended country school through 8th grade at Twin Valley. As a young woman she worked in Twin Valley at the Club Cafe.

On June 25, 1944 she was united in marriage to Ervin Korsgaden. They moved to Fargo where Adell worked for a short time at the Bluebird Cafe, Moorhead, MN. She then stayed home raising their sons Gregory and Gary. After Ervin's death on March 4, 1970 she began work in the housekeeping department at Manor Care Health Services, Fargo until she retired in 1987. She was a faithful member of Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, Fargo at the time of her death.

She loved to travel with family, listen to music by Lawrence Welk, read, and embroider. The family spent many enjoyable weekends at their lake cabin experiencing her love of the outdoors; watching beautiful sunsets, going fishing and watching birds. She loved to bake and cook; entertaining family and friends. She loved canning vegetables from their garden. There were many meals of fish and wild game since her sons are avid outdoorsmen. Blue was her favorite color and wore "blue" jeans often. She loved pets; especially their family dog Raven who frequently visited her at Sunnyside Care Center.

She is survived by her sons, Gregory Korsgaden, Fargo; and Gary (Debbie) Korsgaden, Park
Rapids, MN; five sisters, Melva Boreen (Newman), Fargo, twin sister, Ardis (Vearl), Bettendorf, IA, Shirley Thronson (Allen), Ada, MN, Donna Olson (Owen), Hibbing, MN and Beverly Williams, Denver, CO; two brothers, Melvin Gunderson, Virginia, MN and Wayne Gunderson, Hibbing, MN; also, thirty six neices and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Elaine Boreen (Evander) and brother, Jewell Gunderson.

Funeral: Wednesday, August 22, 2012, 11:00 AM at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND with Pastor Doug Klungtvedt officiating.

Visitation: Tuesday, August 21, 2012 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church.

Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.

Memorials preferred to Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, Hospice of the Red River Valley, Sunnyside Nursing Care Center, Lake Park, MN, or the donor’s choice.

The family wants to thank Sunnyside Nursing Care Center, Lake Park, Hospice of the Red River Valley, Esssentia Health, Fargo, Essentia Health, Detroit Lakes, MN and Golden Living Center, Battle Lake, MN, for the compassionate and excellent care given to Adell during her stay.
