Adelia Stensgard

Adelia “Della” Stensgard, 93, of Moorhead, MN, died Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Eventide Linden Tree Circle, Moorhead, MN under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Adelia was born April 1, 1918 to Christian and Frieda (Wilhelm) Heller in Woods, ND. She grew up on the family farm and attended rural school. Della married Thorval Stensgard, Sr., July 15, 1938 in Fargo, ND. They lived on the farm until 1950. They moved to Fargo and lived from 1950 – 1960. Thorval died in 1997 and she continued to live in her home in Moorhead until 2008 before moving to Eventide. Della enjoyed birds, flowers, and talking on the phone with her sisters. But most of all she enjoyed her family which included devoting her life to her daughter Shirley for whom she took care of in her home until 2008. She is survived by her son, Thorval (Diane) Stensgard, Fargo, ND; two daughters, Darlene (Gordon) Severtson, Nevis, MN and Shirley Stensgard, Moorhead, MN; three sisters, Selma (Fred) Curtis, N. Kansas City, MO, Olga Priewe, Fargo, ND and Nora Dauner, Hawley, MN; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and two sisters. Funeral: Wednesday, March 21, 2012, 11:00 AM at Peace Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Tuesday, March 20, 2012 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
