Adam Brehm

Adam “Fritz” Brehm, 86, of Bethany Retirement Living, died Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND. Adam Brehm, youngest son of Conrad and Catherine Brehm, was born on October 18, 1923, at Lincoln, NE. He graduated from Lincoln High School. He entered the Army Air Corps on February 24, 1943, and was a central fire control gunner on a B-29 bomber. He flew 27 photo reconnaissance missions in the B-29 over the South Pacific. He received an honorable discharge on November 29, 1945, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross among many other decorations. He was united in marriage with Elizabeth Marie Wacker on June 14, 1947, at Lincoln. He attended the University of Nebraska and graduated with a BS degree in Business. He was the first child in the family to attend and graduate college. He accepted an underwriting position with an insurance company in Lincoln. Through the years, he took positions with companies in Indianapolis, IN; Moline, IL; Columbus, OH; Lancaster PA. and finally accepted the position of Vice President of Underwriting at Pioneer Mutual Life in Fargo. He retired in 1988. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Fargo and held several offices. He is survived by a daughter, Cara (Larry) Akers of Moorhead and a son, Mark (Julia) Brehm of Newberg, OR. Visitation: 6 to 7 p.m., Sunday, February 28, 2010, at Hanson Runsvold, Fargo, and one hour before the services at Bethany Homes. Masonic Service: 7 p.m., Sunday, February 28 at Hanson Runsvold. Funeral: 2 p.m., Monday, March 1, 2010, at Bethany Retirement Living, Mavis Whiting Chapel, Fargo, ND. Emtombment: Riverside Mausoleum, Fargo, ND.
