Terry Lee Curfman, age 68, died unexpectedly of natural causes on December 14, 2023.
Terry was born April 6, 1955, to Dale and Luella Curfman in Moorhead, MN. He grew up and attended school in Fargo, ND, graduating from Fargo South High in 1973, and continued his education attending and graduating from college in Bismarck, ND. Terry married Mary Ann Ray, the love of his life, on July 26, 1974 in Webster, SD. They lived in Fargo and raised their family there until 1999, when they moved to Plymouth, MN. In 2010, they moved to Andover, MN, where they have resided since.
After college Terry and Mary moved back to Fargo, and Terry started working at Steiger Tractor. In 1978, Terry started his career at Burlington Northern and worked in the track department, as a conductor, yard master and as an engineer. He retired from BNSF in 2015 after 37 years of service. Once retired, Terry and Mary enjoyed spending part of each winter at their second home in Bullhead City, AZ, where they had several friends in their community.
Terry was happiest when he was with his family. He was at every event for his children and grandchildren whenever his work schedule allowed. He was their biggest supporter and they were his pride and joy. Whether it was going to 20 stores to find the perfect gift or to make sure they had their favorite snacks when visiting, he would always go above and beyond for his kids and grandkids. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for them. The mutual, unconditional love shared between Terry and his kids and grandkids is immeasurable.
Terry enjoyed time with his family, all things history, current world events, classic rock music and concerts, fishing and their lake home, documentary shows and sitcoms, sitting on the deck and having coffee while watching the wildlife, naps, his grandpets, cooking and baking for his family, playing slots, standup comedy, real estate and cars, Minnesota sports and keeping a meticulous lawn.
Terry is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Curfman; two daughters: Stephanie Curfman and Shannon Curfman; two grandsons: Alex Chruscielski and Tyler Morey; one granddaughter: LucyAnn Curfman; bonus daughter Emily O’Dell; sister Sherry Curfman; brother Lonny Curfman; sisters-in-law: Carrie Curfman; Penny Peltier; Sandy Renyolds; Linda Ray; brothers-in-law: Alan Ray; Dan Renyolds; nieces: April (Ryan) Graves; Amber (Tyson) Mattson; Cassandra (Desmond Cain) Peltier; Candace Rodriguez; nephews: Travis Ray; Jared & Jordan Curfman; Dillon (Alexis) Peltier; many great-nieces and great-nephews; special friends Donna Jackson and Denise Baber.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents, Dale and Luella Curfman; brother Mark Curfman; father-in-law and mother-in-law Robert and Gladys Ray; brothers-in-law Charles “Chuck” Ray, Bruce Ray and Terry Ray.
