Margaret Dahl

Margaret Naomi Dahl, age 93, passed away December 8, 2010 at Essentia Health, Fargo. Margaret was born December 28, 1916 in Shelly, MN to Grace & Carl Nornes. Margaret graduated from St. Lukes School of Nursing, Fargo, ND, in 1935. She married Obert N. Dahl in 1937. Obert passed away in 1989. Margaret worked for Dr. Magness at the Dakota Clinic for 15 years. She loved caring for others, and truly enjoyed her time as a nurse. Following her nursing career, she was the director for the Arthritis Foundation. Margaret also devoted many years to the Merit Care Auxiliary, serving on the board. She was a volunteer until the age of 90 with over 8900 hours of service. Margaret was very proud of being “The Popcorn Lady.” A wonderful mother, grandma, and friend, Margaret was especially close to her granddaughters Erica and Jeana, and was cared for and loved by her daughter-in-law Rachel. Her last few years were spent at the Pioneer House, and recently the Elim Nursing Home where she was the “conversationalist” with all the residents. Thank you to all of her care takers—especially special friend Mary Jo Persons. Margaret is survived by sons John (Rachel) Dahl, Fargo, ND, and Jim (Shelia) Dahl, Kerrville, TX; brother Jack Nornes, Owatonna, MN; Dixie Dahl, San Diego, CA; grandchildren Jeff and Deanne Dahl, San Diego, CA, Erica (Brian) Kaldenberg, Iowa City, IA, and Jeana Dahl, Minneapolis, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Margaret was a delightful and special lady and will be missed by many. Memorials referred to the Parish Health Ministry, St. John Lutheran Church. Memorial Service: Thursday, December 23, 2010, at 10:30 AM, Elim Care Center Chapel, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at Elim.
