Einar (Iner) Swanson, age 95, passed away at Fargo Elim Healthcare Center, University Dr. S, Fargo, North Dakota on July 23, 2024.
Einar was born December, 17, 1928 to Carl and Anna Swanson of Warren, Mn. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Vega, Warren, Mn.
Einar was educated at Warren Public Schools and attended Aakers Business College and the University of North Dakota. He was employed by the International Harvesters Co, followed by Border States Electric Supply Co., Grand Forks for 37 years. After retirement, he became partner and broker with First Realty Co. of Grand Forks.
Einar was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church of Grand Forks for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Grand Forks Exchange Club, Grand Forks Elks Club, and worked with the Boy Scouts of America.
Einar and his wife, Phyllis moved from Grand Forks to West Fargo after the flood of 1997. They became members of Hope Lutheran Church. Einar worked for the Holiday Inn for 9 years, even after his wife Phyllis passed away in 2004. He also lived in Dilworth, South Fargo, and Heritage House in North Fargo.
Einar was very involved in Bible Study sessions and attended Wednesday and Sunday services. He also did exercise twice a week, loved drives to Park Rapids in the fall, looked forward to playing "nickel bingo" on Friday nights with his daughter- in- law Alice, attending his grandkids' programs or sporting events, and family gatherings during the holidays.
Surviving members of his loving family: Steven (Diane) Swanson, Grand Forks, ND; Katie (Andy Sherlock), Fergus Falls, Mn: Matthew (Daniall Deis), East Grand Forks, Mn; Greg (Tammie) Swanson, Fargo, ND; Tiffany (Levi) Blinn, Kindred, ND; daughter-in-law, Alice Swanson, Moorhead, MN; Great Grandchildren Trey Theisen, Holtyn, Laekyn, and Brextyn Swanson and Olivia Blinn.
Einar is also survived by sister-in-laws Marlys, Houston, TX, Patty, Tucson, AZ, and Hansena, Salinas, CA. He was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis, his parents Carl and Anna Swanson, brothers Earl, John Evald, Marvin, Arnold (Aryla Kae), and grandson, Nicholas.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Hanson Runsvold Funeral Home, 215 7th St. S, Fargo, ND, on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Visitation at 10:00. Pastor Stephen Streed, Chaplain at Eventide will be officiating the service.
