Donald L. Lamb

July 19, 1930 — February 14, 2013

Dr. Donald Leonard Lamb, age 82, departed to the ultimate hunting ground on Feb. 14, 2013, he last lived in the Memory Care Unit of Sheyenne Crossings in West Fargo, North Dakota.

Don was born in Fargo, N.D. on July 19, 1930 to Martha Ingelina Erickson and Richard Donald Lamb, and was raised in Dilworth, Minn. After high school he enlisted as a Hospital Corpsman in the US Navy and served from 1948-1949. He then attended NDSU until he started medical school at UND and completed his internship at the University of Utah. After completing his general surgery residency at the University of Minnesota, he attended the University of Pittsburgh and finished his training in Plastic Surgery in 1963. He moved back and started his solo practice in Fargo, N.D. At that time he was the only plastic surgeon in the country between Minneapolis and Seattle. His surgical mentors were skeptical he could survive in rural America, but he developed a successful practice and ultimately retired in 1995 after helping many children with cleft lips and palates as well as hundreds of trauma victims. He served on the Fargo School Board from 1974-1977.

Dr. Lamb was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Margaret Wright, his brother Richard Lamb and his parents. His brother's three children; Richard, Janice and Dean Lamb, survive him. He is survived by his sister, Marjory Lamb Cashman, age 95, and her son Jim Cashman. He is survived by; Billie Lamb Rowles married to John Rowles and their children, Conor Johnson, Benjamin Rowles and, Mary Rowles. Donald R. Lamb married to Linda Lamb and their children, Patrick Lamb married to Katie Oines, and Jessica Lamb. David L. Lamb married to Barbara Schneider and their children; Abbigail, Makenzie, Rylee and Joshua. Daniel L. Lamb and Billie Bell have two children, Kaden and Khloe Lamb.

Don had many hobbies and was happiest fishing, hunting, flying, golfing or scuba diving. There are few who enjoy North Dakota more; hunting full time each October from 1965 thru 1995.

The family is grateful to the staff in the Memory Care Unit at Sheyenne Crossings in West Fargo who demonstrated great patience with Dad's slow slip into Alzheimer's Disease.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the University of North Dakota School of Medicine Alumni Association or the Northern Lights Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
