Deborah Mae Olson, 64, of Fargo, ND entered into Heaven at Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 10, 2014 after a 2 ½ year long courageous battle with Leukemia.
Deborah Mae Hanson was born in Northwood, ND on March 13, 1950 to Parnell & Delores (Hannestad) Hanson. She attended school in Northwood, graduating with the class of 1968. On May 25, 1968, she was united in marriage to Robert Olson in Northwood, ND. Robert and Deb farmed in the Northwood area and raised four children; Nikki, Tami, Betty and Rich. Deb worked at Northwood Deaconess Hospital and Home until she attended NDSCS in Wahpeton and received her LPN license in 1993. Robert and Deb moved into Fargo in 1991, where they continued to work and raise their family. They also lived in Barnesville for a period of time. Deb was employed by Villa Maria in Fargo, The Evergreens in Fargo/Moorhead, and at Bethany Homes in Fargo until her health forced her retirement.
Deb enjoyed her nursing career, making many long-term friendships. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Deb enjoyed spending time with family, especially at the lake cabin.
She is survived by her 4 children: Nikki McGregor (Lee Topp) of Fargo, ND; Tami (Cris) Mortensen of Moorhead, MN; Betty (Jamie) Strom of Barnesville, MN; and Rich (Karissa) Olson of Devils Lake, ND; 8 grandchildren; Ryan and Jaden McGregor of Fargo, ND; Cody and Crista Mortensen of Moorhead, MN; Parker and Ariel Strom of Barnesville, MN; and Mikaela and Brittyn Olson of Devils Lake, ND. She is also survived by her brother, Jerry Hanson of Northwood, ND and his children Jarrod (Jeannen) Hanson and Heather Zerr and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Robert Olson in 2011; her parents, Parnell and Delores Hanson, and mother and father-in-law, Alvin and Stella Olson.
