Cody Allen Hennum, 20, of Fargo, died August 22, 2017 in his home. He was born April 1, 1997 in Fargo, the son of Todd and Carolyn (Vetsch) Hennum. He attended Fargo public schools and graduated from Davies High School in May, 2015 as a member of the first class to attend all 4 years of high school at Davies. Cody was active in Junior Classical League, Band, and Academic Knowledge Bowl. He was currently a junior at Minnesota State University Moorhead majoring in history education.
Cody had a very warm heart and loved to serve his community. He volunteered at the Red River Zoo, the Fargo Air Museum and served on mission trips through Atonement Lutheran Church. Cody enjoyed participating in several sports in his spare time including curling, archery and golf. He looked forward to his semi annual “air soft wars” of fathers and sons. He was an avid Vikings and Philip Rivers fan and could recite NFL depth charts and statistics from his self proclaimed “pile of useless knowledge” when he wasn’t busy repeating his favorite movie quotes.
Cody is survived by his parents Todd (Stacy) Hennum and Carolyn Hennum (special friend Scott Rice) of Fargo; his beloved sister Claire of Fargo; paternal grandmother, JoAnn Hennum of Fargo; maternal grandparents, Fred & Alice Vetsch of St. Michael, MN; stepsiblings Sadie, Sienna and Brevin Wark of Fargo; as well as many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Merle Hennum.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Fargo Police Department. In lieu of flowers please send memorials to the Fargo Air Museum or the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
