Annette Marie Jankowski, age 55, of Fargo, ND, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Essentia Hospital in Fargo with her sister, Mara, and husband, Kurt, at her side.
Annette was born in Fargo, ND on October 1, 1967 to John and Viola (Cossette) Roberg.
After graduating from Fargo South High School, Annette worked as a hostess at VFW on Broadway in Fargo. She married Kurt Jankowski, her soulmate and best friend, June 6th, 1987, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fargo. Annette and Kurt then moved to Fergus Falls, MN, where she was a cashier at Fleet Farm. In 1989, they moved back to Fargo and were blessed with the first of their three sons.
Annette spent most of her working years as a daycare provider, most recently at Early Years. She loved kids and loved being a mom. When the boys would bring friends over, she would treat them as members of our family. After the kids were grown and out of the house, she started working at Edible Arrangements, a job she enjoyed as she loved being around people and making them happy.
Annette always wanted grandchildren, and that wish came true when our granddaughter, Nova, was born in the same hospital she was in. She was able to see and hold her just days before she passed.
She enjoyed spending every weekend at our lake home, fishing off the dock, or just sitting by the fire reading a book with the family dog at her side. Annette also enjoyed going on trips to Florida with her sister, Mara. Her time with us was cut short after being diagnosed with stage four Hodgkins Lymphoma in August of 2022, a yearlong battle that she fought with bravery and courage while at the same time encouraging others to chase their dreams.
Annette is survived by her husband, Kurt, sons Jonathan (Stacey) and granddaughter, Nova, all of West Fargo, ND, Ryan (Rachel) of Horace, ND, Chase of Fargo, ND, sister Mara (Greg) McCormack of Fredric, WI, brothers Greg Roberg, Steve Roberg, Corey (Christie) Roberg all of Fargo, ND, Nephew Tyler (Atziry) Roberg and great nephews Mateo and Lucas, all of Somerton, AZ, mother-in-law Charleen (Roger) Jankowski – Rudolph of Glyndon, MN, sister-in-law Nancy (Dave) Halvorson, Dilworth, MN, nieces Megan Halvorson, Moorhead, MN, Laura (Michael) Arvesen and great niece, Raina, of Fargo, ND, along with many friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Roberg, mother, Viola Roberg, brother, Brad Roberg, and father-in-law, Keith Jankowski.
Annette’s family would like to give special thanks to all of the nurses in the Essentia Health infusion centers who made every visit special for her.
