Paul was born May 12th, 1970 in South Dakota where he was adopted by Donald and Carolynn (Kay) Johnson. His family moved to Fargo where he attended Fargo South High and continued to work. He married Pamela Lothspeich in 1993. They then had their beloved monkey Xandra Johnson join the world in April 1997. And although they are no longer married, they remained friends thanks to their daughter. He had other partners throughout his life, as well as another live-in daughter, Avah, who all remain dear to him.
His love of music brought him to work at Disc & Tape for many years. He then began his tattooing career where he tattooed thousands of people at 46 & 2 Tattoo. It was voted Best Shop and he was voted Best Artist many years in a row. His legacy of artistic growth for tattooers will continue on in his name. He was known for wearing his cargo shorts, band t-shirts and mismatching Converse shoes, even in the dead of winter, but especially when going to hundreds of music concerts. Along with concerts and music, he could always talk about Star Wars, movies in general, art, and books. If it was possible to list all of his friends, they would all be listed here but there are simply too many that he held close to his heart. You all know who you are.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Carolynn Johnson; and his sister, Lynnda Nelson. He is survived by his daughter, Xandra (Brianna Homan); his siblings, Cindy (Murray) Wilke, Jayne (Tim Rezac) Johnson Montazemi, Steven (Jack Rydell) Johnson, and Joel (Nikki) Johnson; sister-in-law, Maren Samuelson; brother-in-law, Rodney Nelson; eight nieces and nephews and many extended family members.
A memory hour will be starting at 6 PM at The Four & Four on Saturday, February 8, 2025. Starting at 7 PM will be a celebration of life also at The Four & Four. Snacks and appetizers will be provided.
