Matthew Alan Lauwers

Matthew Alan Lauwers, 45, of Fargo, ND went to his heavenly home surrounded by his loving family at Essentia Hospital on April 11, 2025.

Matthew was born on December 26, 1979 in Billings, MT to Wayne and JoAnn (Reinhardt) Lauwers. He moved to Fargo with his family the summer before his 3rd grade year, but Montana was always in his heart. Matt graduated from Fargo North High in 1998. He attended NDSU and worked in the construction industry. However, he always had a passion for the culinary arts so moved to the Minneapolis area and attended and graduated from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts. Upon graduation, Matt worked as sous chef at Rinata in Minneapolis, MN. He and his family eventually moved back to Fargo, and Matt returned to the construction industry. His last job was as project manager at Pierce Lee Roofing. Cooking for those he loved, however, remained a favorite thing to do.

Matt was passionate about hunting, fishing, and cheering on his favorite teams, the Minnesota Vikings (Skol!) and Notre Dame Irish. But his greatest love was for his two children, Madison and Austin. He was happiest when he was with them. He often said they kept him going through the tough times. Matt didn't just tell his kids he loved them, he showed them. Sharing his faith with them was of utmost importance. Matt was their biggest fan and was interested and involved in anything they were interested in. Whether it was football, basketball, choir or band concerts, he always had a joyous smile watching them perform.

Matt is survived by his children, Madison and Austin; his mother, JoAnn; his brother, Brian (Sadie); niece, Lexi; nephews, Gavin and Rowen. His life was also blessed by so many aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him dearly.

Matt was preceded in death by his father Wayne, his grandparents, and uncles Scott and Cary.

Matt's Celebration of Life will be Thursday, April 17 at 11:00 AM at Hope Lutheran Church 2900 N Broadway, Fargo, ND. Visitation will be one hour before. The service will be livestreamed from hansonrunsvold.com
