Joni (Felix) Ronning

Joni Ronning of Fargo, ND, passed away on February 26, 2024 at the age of 62. She will be remembered for her big laugh, generosity of spirit, fierce dedication to family, and flair for drama. She found joy in trying new things, helping others, spoiling her dogs, and feeding her loved ones delicious feasts and decadent baked goods.

Joni was born in Sioux City, Iowa, and when she was two and a half years old, Frank and Doris Felix adopted her into their caring home in Arlington, South Dakota. She was fun-loving and forged friendships everywhere she went - from Audubon, Minnesota, where she raised a family with John Ronning, to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in the Black Hills, to winters at Lagoons RV Resort in Rockport, Texas.

Joni was preceded in death by her husband and best friend, John, and her father, Frank. She is survived by her mother, Doris, brother, Rev. Brad Felix, and six children: Leif Ronning (Tera), Dane Ronning (Rachel), Eric Ronning (Amber), Sara Peterson (Eli), Nick Bennett (Lisa Eichblatt), and Joe Ronning (Kayla). She was also a cherished grandmother to 11 grandchildren: John, Owen, Luke, Conner, Leo, Cole, Ray-Lynn, Wyatt, Audrey, Izaak, and Mia.

A celebration of Joni's life is being planned and will be held in Aberdeen, South Dakota. The date will be shared at a later time.
