Allen M. Beaton, 75, Fargo, North Dakota died March 1, 2025 in a Phoenix Hospital.
Al was born March 15, 1949, in Grand Forks, North Dakota to James and Esther Beaton. He graduated from Central High School in 1967 and joined the U.S Navy in 1969. In 1972 he qualified in submarines and served on the USS Trout (SS-566) until his honorable discharge in 1975. He received the Vietnam Service Medal.
Al married Linda Warriner on January 20, 1973, in San Diego, California, where they made their home.
In 1979, after graduating from San Diego State University with a BS in Business Administration (Accounting) Al and Linda moved to Fargo, North Dakota where Al worked as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in public accounting until 1990.
Al began his second career when he became an Accounting Instructor at M-State Community College in Moorhead, Minnesota. Al loved teaching. He took great pride in his student's accomplishments and was a mentor to many. He was an Advisor for the Business Professionals of America student group for 23 years. Al retired from teaching in 2014.
After retirement, Al and Linda traveled extensively, visiting many friends along the way. Summers were spent enjoying life at their cabin on Pickerel Lake.
Al had many interests. He maintained his connection with the submarine force and shipmates throughout his life as a lifetime member of the United States Submarine Veterans, The Holland Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Al was an avid Harley-Davidson motorcycle rider and lifetime member of the Harley-Davidson Owners group (HOG). He and Linda attended the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally for 40 years. Al was an animal lover, serving on the board of Homeward Animal Shelter from 1993 to 2005, and volunteering at Best Friends Animal Shelter in Kanab, Utah for several years. Last but not least, Al was a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan, supporting his team at Lambeau Field for years.
Al is survived by his wife, Linda; sisters, Janice (Tom) Tollefson, Barbara Litzinger, Deborah (Tom) Bulger, brother, Ronald (Vicki) Beaton; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Submarine Veterans Charitable Foundation USSV-CF or Homeward Animal Shelter.
Full Military Honors will be held at 2:00pm at the USS Robalo Submarine Memorial in Lindenwood Park, 1905 Roger Maris Drive, Fargo and a Celebration of Al's life will be held from 3:00 to 5:00pm at the Delta Hotel,1635 42nd Street SW, Fargo.
