Terry Rishling

Terry Rishling died Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo from a heart attack. Terry was a leader who had a positive and fun outlook on life that he tried to bring out in others. Those traits came through in all aspects of his life. Terry was a supervisor with Jet Way Inc and also a sergeant in the 231st Unit with the National Guard. Both of these titles he took very seriously, showing up every day ready to work hard. Terry L Rishling was born December 22, 1971, to John and Gloria (Cree) Rishling. He grew up in the Belcourt area, graduated from Turtle Mountain Community High School, and had a daughter, Courtney. He married Nancy Gailfus March 4, 1996, in Las Vegas and together they had a daughter, Sophie. Even though Terry worked hard, he also valued spending time with his family. He enjoyed camping, including a couple trips to the boundary waters, and relaxing on the weekends when he wasn’t working on the house or doing yard work or thinking up a new project for the house or going to drill…really the list could go on an on. His favorite vacation was when he went to Disney World with all his girls. He was a talented artist and was very particular about his projects. Terry is survived by his wife Nancy (Fargo); daughters, Courtney (Belcourt) and Sophie (Fargo); parents, John and Gloria Rishling (Belcourt); siblings, Colette Nadeau (Belcourt), John Jr. and Mindy Rishling (Mandan), Kathy and Lee Delong (Belcourt), Dixie Rishling (Belcourt), Tracy and JD Nobles (Woodbury,VA), and Stacy and Roni Rishling (Belcourt); in-laws Susan Gailfus (Fargo), Jennifer and Lonny Murphy (Gwinner), Denise and Todd Stewart (West Fargo); along with many nieces and nephews. As a part of our extended family, he is also survived by the soldiers of the 231st. Terry was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas and Catherine (Bonneaup) Cree, Edward and Jacqueline (Bowers) Rishling; and father-in-law, Corky Gailfus. His time with us is done but his time to watch over us has just begun. I’m sure it’ll be the hardest job he’s ever done. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.
