Steven Strege, 74, went home to be with Jesus on January 16, 2024.

Steven David Strege was born on July 18, 1949 in Breckenridge, MN to Otto and Myrtle (Solberg) Strege. He was baptized August 7, 1949 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidgerwood, ND and was confirmed April 7, 1963 at Peace Lutheran Church in Barney, ND. He grew up in rural Wyndmere on a farm. Steve picked rocks, hauled bales, plowed and drove tractors before they had cabs. He attended Wyndmere schools, where he met his future wife in the 1st grade, and graduated Valedictorian of his class in 1967. Cynthia Reese and Steven Strege married on August 31, 1968 at Peace Lutheran Church in Barney, ND. Steve attended NDSU and graduated in May 1972 with a degree in Agricultural and Applied Sciences. He worked at Branick Manufacturing for several years. During that time, the couple welcomed baby Martin David Strege in December 1973. In August of 1976, he was hired as Field Representative for North Dakota Grain Dealers Association (NDGDA), and they added a baby girl, Michelle Lynne Strege. Steve became active in church, serving in office roles over the years, attending bible study and church services throughout his life. In 1979, Steve was promoted to Executive Vice President for NDGDA where he remained until his retirement in 2014. Over the years, he enjoyed time with his grandchildren: Jaden (1999), Emma (2004), and Violet (2012). After retirement, he volunteered at the Emergency Food Pantry, and the highlights of the day were coffee breaks - CB3 was a super day. The farmer never left Steve, as he spent the spring and summer gardening with the grandkids, valiantly protecting his crops from the squirrels! In his younger years, he was a pinochle master, and later in life, he liked to trounce the grandkids in a game of UNO. Over the last several months, he thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the doctors and nurses at Sanford and PAM, and they reciprocated, with the PAM staff commenting that he came back to entertain them.

Steve is survived by his wife of 55 years, Cindy of Fargo, ND; children Marty (Marnee) Strege of Omaha, NE and Michelle (Glenn) Suedel of West Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Jaden (fiance Maria Lotti) Anderson of Fargo, ND and Emma Strege and Violet Strege of Omaha, NE; brother: Richard (Marlys) Strege, Fargo, ND; sister: Emelia Johnson, Minnetonka, MN; sisters-in-law, Mildred Strege, Lidgerwood, and Ann Strege, Wyndmere, Debbie Boyer, Wahpeton, ND, Diane Reese, West Fargo, ; brother-in-law William Reese Jr, Fargo; and special nut lady Joan Behrens.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, William Sr. and Doris Reese; eight brothers; LaVerne, Howard, Merlin, Orvis, Elmer, Claude, James, Joseph; three sisters; Inez, Rachel, Leonara; two brothers-in-law, Dave Reese and Martin Boyer; sister-in-law, JoAnn Strege.

Memorial donations may be made in Steven's name to Fargo Emergency Food Pantry, Growing Together in Grace Foundation, North Dakota Grain Dealers Association Education Foundation, and Immanuel Lutheran Church.
