Shirley Ann BeVier Hogness, of Fargo, ND, beloved wife and mother, went home to be with Jesus on July 25, 2024.
Shirley was born in Dallas, TX, on October 15, 1953, to William and JoAnn BeVier, joining her older sister Cindy in their family. When Shirley was six years old, the family relocated to Detroit, MI. She graduated from Redford High School in 1971. She began her college education at Detroit Bible College, and graduated from Northwestern College of Roseville, MN. Shirley then began her career in Christian radio broadcasting, starting at KTIS in St. Paul, MN, and moving to Fargo, ND, to serve the Lord as a broadcaster at KFNW. Shirley would spend her entire professional career in this field.
In Fargo, she met her husband, James, and they were married on August 27, 1988. Shirley’s Christian faith was extremely important to her; she volunteered her time in service with Park Christian School, Wycliffe Bible Translators, and her church, Salem Evangelical Free Church (among other institutions). She served for many years on the board of Christian Family Life Services (now Christian Adoption Services). She enjoyed reading, traveling, spending time with her family, and learning about the world. Her favorite trip was always Hawaii because of the ocean views. Later in life, Shirley had great joy in spending time with her granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by parents, William (JoAnn) BeVier of Springfield, MO. Shirley leaves behind to cherish her memory: sister, Cindy (Randy) Meredith of Springfield, MO; husband, James Hogness of Fargo, ND; daughter, Joanna (Jordan) Nelson of West Fargo, ND; son, Jordan (Rachel) Hogness; granddaughters, Ingrid and Bridgette; and a grandson-to-be of Hopkins, MN.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Christian Adoption Services, the agency that blessed James and Shirley with their daughter Joanna, or The Perry Center.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Salem Evangelical Free Church, Moorhead, with a visitation beginning at 9:30 AM. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.
