Robert Glenn Allen Olson, 68, Fargo, ND originally of Northwood, ND died Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Sanford Palliative Care, Fargo, ND. Robert Glenn Allen Olson of Fargo, ND, originally of Northwood, ND went peacefully to be with the lord, surrounded by family on December 29, 2011, at Sanford Hospital Palliative Care Unit after a 1 ½ year long courageous battle with esophageal cancer. Robert was born June 18, 1943 to Alvin and Stella (Nelson) Olson. He was baptized and confirmed at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Northwood, ND. Robert graduated from Northwood High School in 1961. He enlisted in the United States Army on December 15, 1964 and was honorably discharged on September 27, 1966. On May 25, 1968, he married Deb Hanson at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Northwood. Robert and Deb lived and farmed in the Northwood area for over 20 years before moving to Fargo in 1990. Robert worked as a truck driver and then at Midland Hospital Supply until he retired in June 2009. They raised 4 children: Nikki McGregor of Fargo, Tami (Cris) Mortensen of Moorhead, Betty (Jamie) Strom of Barnesville and Rich (Karissa) Olson of Devils Lake. The Olson family also had an exchange student known as their “Swedish Son”, AJ (Helene) Josefsson of Gothenburg, Sweden. Robert was so very proud to say he raised his children to be a very close family, like God would say forgive and receive forgiveness as family and God is what is needed for a good life. Robert’s pride and joy was his 8 grandchildren: Ryan and Jaden McGregor (Fargo), Cody and Crista Mortensen (Moorhead), Parker and Ariel Strom (Barnesville), and Mikaela and Brittyn Olson (Devils Lake) and his Swedish grandchildren, Axel, August and Niles Josefsson. Robert’s dream of a lifetime came true at the end of October, 2011, when Robert and Deb and their 4 children traveled to visit AJ and his family in Sweden. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Stella Olson and mother and father-in-law, Parnell and Delores Hanson. Robert is survived by his sisters, Arlene Krebsbach of Fargo, Vicki (Gene) Krueger of Grafton and Renee Bjerke of Aneta. A loving husband, father, grandfather and father-in-law, his memory and his life will live on through his family. Funeral: Tuesday, January 3, 2012, 2:00 PM at Comstock Lutheran Church, Comstock, MN.
