Bob Kern, 54, of Hendrum, Minnesota, passed with his family at his side under hospice care on Wednesday April, 25 2012. Robert “Bob” Vincent Kern, Sr. was born August 9, 1957 to Virginia (George) Kern in Pomona, California. Bob's family lived in New York from 1960 to 1971 to be near grandparents, Baba and Mimi McGowan. In June 1971, they moved back to California. Bob and Deb were married on June 26, 1988 in CA. They resided in Riverside and Victorville, California. Bob, Deb and family moved to North Dakota in 1991. Bob and Deb have a blended family of seven children. He was first employed by Chippewa Trucking and Samuelson Painting, he then went to go work for Laney’s. After ten years, he ventured out on his own with Bob Kern and Sons Plumbing, Inc. On June 26, 2010, Bob was diagnosed with brain cancer and shut the business doors. Through his illness, Bob kept his positive attitude and survival instincts. Bob’s family is extremely grateful for Travis and Jamie for providing his PCA care and to Hospice. He loved spending time with family. His passion, besides his work, was fishing, hunting, riding motorcycle, camping and family gatherings. Bob is survived by his wife, Deb; children, Brandi Striker; Jeremiah Yokley; Rob (Tina) Kern; Arlin (Jamie) Yokley; Wes (Sarah) Kern; Travis Kern; grandchildren, Kaitlin, Lexi, Daneca, Kaylee, Maddison, Tyler, Connor, Jude, Isaiah, Isabella, and Ava; his twin sister, Laurie Kern; sister, Cathy (Marty) Dieckmeyer; and brother, Geoff (Debra) Kern. He was preceded in death by son, Billy Kern. Celebration of Bob's life will be Saturday May, 5 2012 at 4:00 PM at the Moorhead Armory (1002 15th Avenue North, Moorhead, 56560).
