It is with great sadness that the family of Opal G. Wright (Bramseth) announces her passing at Bethany on University on April 28, 2022.

Opal was born on May 21, 1926, to Guri (Aker) and Ole Bramseth in Crookston, MN. She was confirmed and graduated from Climax High School. She attended elementary school in the one-room schoolhouse named after her grandfather, Knute Aker. Our mother met our father (Oliver "Bud" Wright) at a local wedding dance, and they were married on April 6, 1946, in Climax. Their early years together were spent near Caledonia, ND, on the family farm before they moved to Fargo in 1950.

Opal worked at J.C. Penny's for 10 years before becoming manager of the gift shop at St. Luke's Hospital, where she worked for 15 years before her retirement.

When she started bowling after she retired, we found her name in the newspaper for her high senior scores. Opal also enjoyed playing bridge with friends and traveling to visit her children and their families. She also had fun playing and winning 10-cent bingo at Bethany. Called “Opie” by her great-grandchildren, she was loved and will forever be remembered for her kind, compassionate, warm heart.

Mom was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Oliver (Bud) Wright, and her sisters Cora Johnson and Hazel Sondreal. Sharing loving memories are her surviving children, Connie LaCroix, Fargo, ND; Keith (Enes) Wright, Colorado Springs, CO; Steve (Gwen) Wright, Excelsior, MN and Janet (Brad) Jacobson, Centennial, CO; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She leaves many nieces and nephews and her special niece, Gail Sondreal, and special nephew, Wayne Sondreal.

A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Bethany on University in Fargo for their loving, warm, and comforting care of Opal and her family members.

A wife, a mother, and a grandma, too, this is the legacy we have from you. In life, we loved you dearly, in death, we love you still. In our hearts, you hold a place no one else will ever fill. Mom, you left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide, although we cannot see you, you're always at our side. Perhaps they are not stars in the sky but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy. We will forever love you and miss you, Mom!

A memorial service is yet to be determined. A memorial video tribute is available on the Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home website. Memorials may be made in Opal’s memory to Bethany Foundation at www.bethanynd.org or by mail at 201 University Drive South, Fargo, ND 58103.
