Lorraine Reinke

February 15, 1933 — January 13, 2009

Lorraine L. Reinke left this earth to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 13, 2009. Lorraine Lili Kuehl was born February 15, 1933, to August and Esther (Bladow) Kuehl in Hankinson, ND. She attended public and Lutheran parochial schools in Hankinson and in 1951, enrolled at the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. After graduation, she served as secretary to the Registrar until 1957. She met Gary C. Reinke at college and they were married on June 25, 1955, in Hankinson. They moved to Fargo in 1957, and were blessed with three children: Mark, Troy and Karen. They were members of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Lorraine was active as coordinator of the congregation’s women’s bible classes and a member of The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML). She also served the LWML on the circuit and district level. After the children were in school, she served as Administrative Assistant to the ND State Advisory Council for Vocational Education; and as secretary to the principal of Longfellow Elementary School in Fargo. After retirement, they spent 15 wonderful years traveling in their motor home, but her greatest pleasure was coming home to see and visit her 12 grandchildren. Lorraine will always be remembered for her love and devotion to the Lord Jesus, her family and others. Despite living with numerous chronic illnesses, she maintained such a love for life and always was more concerned for the welfare of others than herself. Her life truly exemplified the “fruits of the spirit” love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Lorraine was a person to be treasured and will be missed by her family and friends, including her husband of 53 years; her son, Dr. Mark (Kathy) Reinke, Rhiannon, Robin, Rebecca, Rochelle and Ryan of Green Bay, WI; her daughter-in-law, Susan Reinke, Jessica, Anne and Elizabeth of Rochester, MN; and daughter, Dr. Karen (Don) Garnaas, Katherine, Noah, Will and Eden of Sioux Falls, SD; her sister, Bernice Tiegs ; brother-in-law, Charles Ahrens; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Kuehl and Darlene Kuehl, all of Hankinson, ND; Berda Kuehl, St. Paul, MN; and JoAnn (Jim) Stewart, West Fargo, ND. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Troy S. Reinke; a sister, JoAnn Ahrens; and three brothers, Howard, Harold and Edward Kuehl.
