Lorna N. (Lantz) Saewert, 87, of Fargo, ND, died Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Bethany Retirement Living, Fargo, ND. Lorna was born on December 21, 1924 in Fargo, ND to Andrew and Grace (Baity) Lantz. She grew up in the Casselton, ND area, graduating from Lincoln High of Casselton in 1942. Following her graduation from Mayville State Teachers College, Lorna taught at country school Norway #2, rural Hillsboro, ND. Lorna married Gordon Saewert on September 17, 1944 in Mayville, ND. They farmed in the Lynchburg area for many years before moving to Fargo in 1966. She was employed with deLendrecies and retired after 19 years of service. She loved to read and enjoyed writing many short stories and articles. She was so proud that some of her stories were published. Her adventuresome spirit was shown when, at the age of 65, she took the first of three hot-air balloon rides. Lorna is survived by her children, David (Donna) Saewert, Dean (special friend Sherry Mischke) Saewert, Diane (Loren) Staroba, Darla (David) Paulson and son-in-law Fred Scott; 4 granddaughters, Kristine (Robb) Zimmel, Tracy (Jason) Daniels, LaNell and Megan Staroba; and 3 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Anna, and Matthew Zimmel. She is also survived by a brother Brad (Dolly) Lantz, a sister Alice (Harland) Hanson, a brother-in-law Jim (Sharon) Saewert and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon, daughter Dawn Scott, granddaughter Debbie Scott, her parents, a brother Andrew (Marie) Lantz and a sister Marilyn (Robert) Clark. The family wishes to thank the wonderful Bethany staff and Hospice of the Red River Valley for all their tender care and support given to our mother and family. Funeral: Monday, January 23, 2012 at 10:00 AM, at Mavis Whiting Chapel, Bethany on University in Fargo. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at Bethany. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
