Linda M. (Rud) Kringlie, 82, passed peacefully on Monday, January 30th, 2023, with family by her side. Linda was born on June 27th, 1940, to Theodore (Ted) Rud and Clara (Leland) Rud in Mayville, North Dakota. Linda attended Primrose #2 Grade School in Steele County and graduated from Portland High School.

From the time she was a little girl, she wanted to be a nurse, and in January 1965, she received her Registered Nurses License through St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Fargo, North Dakota. She began her career as a registered nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital in Fargo, where she stayed until she retired as Director of Surgical Nursing in 1992.

Nursing came naturally for Linda, caring for others was simply who she was. She advocated for patient and nursing rights. She earned the respect of her fellow colleagues, physicians, and administration. During her career in health care, she was regarded as a role model, mentor, and leader.

Linda grew up on the family farm along with her younger brother Gilman (Gil), where she was active with field and farm work, such as driving tractors and grain trucks. In addition, she cared for the farm animals that she loved, except for chickens, from dairy cows to barn kittens.

Linda loved music and played the saxophone in the high school band, where she first met the love of her life and future husband, David Kringlie. Dave and Linda married on July 24th, 1960, and after a brief time in Minneapolis, MN and Mayville, ND, they made their home in Fargo, where they raised their four children, Jim (Sheila) Kringlie, Dale (Kellie) Kringlie, Robin Kringlie, and Sarah (Greg) Olson.

Linda welcomed everyone into their home. Her genuine warmth made all feel like family. When she wasn’t caring for patients or her family, you could find her working in the garden, reading, playing piano, or baking.

Linda loved the outdoors, wildlife, and traveling. She and Dave often took the family camping to numerous national parks and to visit historical places across America. In their retirement, they enjoyed exploring 20-plus states in their travel trailer, customized by Linda. She and Dave also ventured across Canada by motorcycle and explored their heritage in Norway. Her love for traveling also took her to Australia with her daughter, Robin.

Linda LOVED her 12 grandchildren. Whenever possible, she attended every event and celebration. She was the proudest Grandma to Lindsey, Michael and Jack Kringlie, Mariah, Amanda, Amy and Evan Kringlie, Tristan and Alex Schmidt, Ethan, Jaydon, and Kaitlyn Olson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Clara Rud; her in-laws, Joe and Evelyn Kringlie; and by her beloved aunts, Rosie and Aggie Rud.
