Kathleen Oneva Lorz

Kathleen passed away peacefully on May 5, 2022, at Bethany on 42nd in Fargo. Kathleen was born 3 miles west of Fertile, Iowa, in her Grandparents' home (Christ and Tilda Benson) on October 29, 1932. The family moved to Minneapolis in 1942. Kathleen went back home every summer until she was 17 years old.
She was confirmed at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis in 1944. She belonged to a Hawaiian orchestra at the Gould School of Music in Minneapolis. When she was 14, she went on a trip with the orchestra to Chicago, Washington, D.C., New York City, Springfield, Niagara Falls, Pittsburg, and Philadelphia, a wonderful trip for a young kid.

Kathleen and her family moved to West Fargo in the fall of 1947. Kathleen graduated from L.E. Berger School in June 1950. After graduation, Kathleen worked for Blue Cross – Blue Shield. She married James Lorz on June 15, 1952. James and I welcomed 4 children, and Kathleen stayed home with the children. James died on March 5, 1968. Kathleen worked for Social and Behavioral Science at NDSU before providing in-home child care until her retirement in 2001.
Kathleen is survived by her children: Deborah (Craig) Rawley of Damascus, OR; Steve (Peggy) Lorz of Fargo; and daughter-in-law, Debbie Lorz of Granbury, Tx; grandchildren: Tracy Rawley, Julie (Stacey) North, Micah (David) Hughes, Casey Johnson, Michelle Lorz, Michael (Stephanie) Lorz, Stephanie (Patrick Beaudry) Lorz, Jessica (Lucas Gramlow) Lorz; great-grand-children; McKenna, Remmi and Piper Love, Amaya and Madison Johnson, Vivian North, Reagan, Grayson and Lillian Lorz and great-great-grandson Malcolm Love.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Ennis and Olga Halverson, stepfather Lewis Halverson, her husbands, James Lorz and Harold Lorz, and sons Leon and David.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, North Dakota.
