Joyce Joan Wendt

Joyce Wendt, 70, of Fargo, died in her home on Sunday, January 31 with family by her side.

Joyce was born on August 23, 1945 in Eureka, SD to Benjamin and Vivian (Burrer) Wittmayer. She moved to Fargo with her mom as a young girl and graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1963. She went on to college at the North Dakota State School of Science and graduated in Practical Nursing in 1965. Joyce married Dennis A. Wendt on December 18, 1965. In 1967, they moved to Minneapolis where Joyce worked at several Minneapolis area hospitals before moving back to North Dakota in 1980. The couple made their home in Buffalo until Dennis's death in 1994. Many in the Buffalo area remember Joyce as the Avon lady and also remember her gift for creating beautiful floral arrangements for area brides. Joyce moved to Fargo in 1995. She worked various jobs with many people whom she truly enjoyed. She retired from Nodak Mutual Insurance Company in May of 2015.

Joyce was a happy, fun-loving woman who laughed often with friends and family. She always made holidays with the family very special, with perfectly planned meals, endless amounts of baked goodies and she did all she could to make sure her granddaughters felt special and loved. Joyce always, always, had candy around the house, and lots of it. It was in cute little glass bowls on display in the kitchen, dining room and living room. Every holiday every year was commemorated with the candy of the season in holiday themed bowls and baskets on the kitchen counter. She loved her candy! And she loved sharing it! Joyce found fun and therapy in shopping. Any bad day could be made better with a new pair of shoes. She never found a pair she didn't like! She enjoyed attending her granddaughters' activities. She enjoyed road trips with friends and family, whether to visit other people, to shop and watch sporting events or to try her luck at a casino. No matter where she was, Joyce enjoyed the people around her. She enjoyed life!

Joyce is survived by her son, Craig (Vicki) Wendt of Buffalo, ND; her son, Bryan Wendt of Fargo; and three granddaughters, Sierra, Kassidy and Kira. Joyce was preceded in death by her father, her mother and her husband.
