Hans Gustav Wallin, cherished husband, father and grandpa, passed away at home in Fargo, ND on August 16, 2024, at the age of 75 after battling cancer since January.

Hans was born on August 1st, 1949, in Virginia, MN to Hans and Leanore Wallin. He grew up in Hibbing, MN and graduated from Hibbing High School in 1967. Shortly after he enlisted in the Air Force for 4 years, serving in Security Services in Japan and Crete. After being discharged from the Air Force, Hans attended MSU for Accounting where he met is beautiful wife Laurie Sorvaag. They married June 1, 1974, and just celebrated 50 wonderful years together. Together they raised three wonderful children Justin, Jason, and Janet. After being an accountant for several years Hans decided he needed a change in career and became an over the road truck driver until he retired. After retiring he took a part-time job at HeartLand Industries in Moorhead, transporting clients in the morning and afternoon. He always said this was his favorite job and wouldn’t quit no matter what.

Hans loved spending time at the camper at Tamarac Resort on Round Lake in Minnesota. Whether it was sitting on the deck enjoying the company of their dear lake friends in the hot sun or out on the boat “trying” to fish, it was his happy place. He also enjoyed going to the many activities of his beautiful grandchildren and keeping in touch with his kids and grandkids.

Hans is survived by wife Laurie (Sorvaag) Wallin, son Justin (Christina) Wallin, grandchildren Austin, Elijah and Ivy, daughter Janet (Gabe) Griffin from Fargo, ND; brother John (Katherine) Wallin, Murfreesboro, TN; brothers-In-law Chuck (Susan) Sorvaag, Ron (Carla) Sorvaag and all of his nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Hans and Leanore, In-laws Harold and Angie Sorvaag, and his son Jason Wallin.

Hans will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to all the exceptional staff at Roger Maris Cancer Center and to the fast response of the Fargo Police Department, Fargo Fire Department, and Sanford Ambulance.

In honor of Hans there will be a visitation on Thursday, August 22, 2024 from 1pm-2pm followed by a Celebration of his life at 2pm at Hope Lutheran Church - South Campus.

Hans was a casual guy, he never liked to be dressed up. In honor of his fashion, feel free to wear jeans.
