Elizabeth (Liz) Ann McNutt, 76, of Fargo, ND, passed away Friday, August 24, 2012, at Sanford Palliative Care.
Elizabeth Ann Green was born May 20, 1936, in Minneapolis, MN. She moved with her family to Fargo, ND, later that same year.
Liz was a 1954 graduate of Fargo Central High School and continued her education for two years at Concordia College, where she majored in Music and was a featured concert soloist in the choir. She then attended Moorhead State College and graduated in 1965 with a degree in Elementary Education.
She began teaching for the Fargo Public School system in September, 1966. An outstanding school teacher, Liz impacted the lives of hundreds of elementary students in her 34 year career. She retired in 1998, but continued to mentor students at Jefferson Elementary until May 2012. She married Paul A. McNutt on August 15, 1970, and together they raised their two daughters.
Liz adored music and was involved in many choirs over the years. She also loved training, grooming, and showing her beloved golden retrievers. Liz and Paul were also active in the Golden Retriever Rescue of Minnesota (RAGOM), where they rescued abused and unwanted golden retrievers, caring for them lovingly and finding them ‘forever homes’.
Liz is survived by her husband, Paul, and two daughters, Lorna Pfingsten of Fargo, ND, and Lisa Dahmen of Bellevue, NE. She is also survived by five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial Service: Thursday, August 30, 2012, 10:00 AM at Shepherd of the Prairie Moravian Church, Fargo, ND.
Visitation: One hour prior to services at the church.
Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
