Brian Donald Hanson, 55, Fargo, ND, died unexpectedly Sunday, April 2, 2023.
Brian Donald Hanson was born March 26, 1968, in Moorhead, MN, to Donald and Sylvia Hanson. Brian grew up in Grafton, ND, and was the oldest of four siblings. At ten years old, he set a good example of being a hard worker by starting a paper route.
He graduated from Grafton High School, where he participated in hockey, football, and baseball. He was also part of the homecoming court. He then went on to earn his associate's degree in Architectural Drafting and Estimating at NDSCS.
Brian met the love of his life, Jodi Quick, in high school through a family member and best friend of the couple. They went on to find new experiences in Colorado, where their love of the mountains and the outdoors began. They married on September 18, 1993, in Fargo, ND. While in Colorado, they continued to build their lives and had four beautiful children; Madison, Wyatt, Owen, and Keegan.
They decided to return to North Dakota to raise their family, where Brian was able to continue working in a career that followed his passions. He eventually found his way to Heritage Homes, where he happily worked for over 18 years. While working at Heritage Homes, he stayed active in his community. He was able to work on three Extreme Home Makeovers and was a member of the FM Home Builders, where he served on several committees. He also helped with Habitat for Humanity and was involved with the National Home Builders Association NDSU chapter. Here, he would lead students through the building process and enjoyed having the opportunity to be a mentor to them. The friendships Brian built with the Heritage Homes staff and trade partners meant the world to him.
Brian had many passions, one of which was hockey. He grew up playing it, and as he grew older, he transitioned his love of the game from a player to a volunteer coach. All four of his children followed in his footsteps, and he was excited to coach and mentor each of them throughout their love of the game. During the off-season, he enjoyed going to Devils Lake with his family and friends. At the lake, he was able to camp, fish, grill, and enjoy a few beers. Brian also enjoyed gardening, home projects, making salsa with his family, and spending time with his new granddaughter. Brian was an avid sports fan, and he loved the Bison and the 2022 Stanley Cup Champions Colorado Avalanche (GO AVS)!
Brian is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Jodi; his children, Madison (Adam), Wyatt, Owen, and Keegan; his granddaughter, Sawyer; his mother, Sylvia (Neal); his father, Donald (Ronda); brothers, Gary (Jen), Matt, and Jared; step-brothers, Garret (Lan) and Justin; his brother-in-law, Ryan (Allison); his sister-in-law, Stacy; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Brian is preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Josephine Jelinek; his paternal grandparents, Berger and Rosalie Hanson; parents-in-law, Candace and Darrel Quick; good friend, Thomas "T" Kopperud; uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Services for Brian will be held on Monday, April 10th at 2:00PM at the Avalon Events Center. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 2525 9th Ave S, Fargo, ND 58103. Following the service, refreshments will be served.
