Betty “Betts” C. Nelson, 82, of Fargo, ND, passed away at ManorCare in Fargo on Saturday, March 24, 2018 after a brief struggle with cancer.
Betty Corrine Erickson was born December 11, 1935 in Perley, MN to Erick and Bernice (Wells) Erickson. She grew up and attended schools in Perley and in Fargo, graduating from Fargo Central High School in 1954.
She married Laurence “Husky” Nelson in 1961 at First Lutheran Church in Fargo, and they had two sons, Larry and Steven Nelson.
Through the years, Betty held various jobs in the Fargo area. She later worked at Hector International Airport in security, where she met many famous celebrities, and finally retired. She also worked at Barnstormers at the airport following her retirement.
Betty was an active life member of the Fargo VFW Post 762 Auxiliary and supported many veteran projects. She enjoyed painting, going to the lake, and getting together with friends. She was a number one Vikings fan who proudly displayed their colors. She loved wearing hats.
Betty is survived by her sons, Larry (Kathy) and Steven Nelson, Phoenix, AZ; and grandson, Christopher Nelson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Jean Marie Hammerie.
