Anneline Mary Olson

December 18, 1937 — January 10, 2015

Anneline Mary Olson, age 78, a resident of Bethany Homes, passed through the gates of Heaven on Saturday, January 10, 2015. There, she joined our Lord, and she joined her husband, the Reverend Gary L. Olson, who preceded her through those gates by nearly 20 years. Anneline and Gary are survived by four children; Julie Dial and husband Keith of Billings, MT; Beth Beenken and husband Mark of Eden Prairie, MN; David Olson and wife Rachel Budelsky-Olson of Bellingham, WA; and Peter Olson and wife Ann of Broken Arrow, OK. Anneline was blessed with four grandchildren; Mary and Rachel Beenken ages 25 and 22, and Indigo and Torger Olson, ages 16 and 11. Anneline is also survived by her 4 siblings, Cliff Lynch of Naples, FL; John Lynch of Winston-Salem, NC; Nancy Burkland and Joanne MacGregor, both of Fargo.

Anneline and Gary met in Junior High School, and shared a deep and enduring love that survived triumph and grief, sickness and health. In so doing, they provided unconditional love for each other, as well as a rock solid example for their children to emulate in their own families. After graduating from Concordia College in Moorhead, they moved to St Paul, MN, and Anneline taught English in the public schools while Gary pursued a Masters of Divinity at Luther Seminary. Following ordination, they served a variety of parishes in North Dakota, and Gary served as the Youth Minister at First Lutheran in Fargo between 1967 and 1975, before moving to Billings MT to serve at American Lutheran church, until Gary’s severe illness in 1985. They then returned to their roots in Fargo, where their memory will live, together, at Wild Rice Cemetery along the Red River.

A Graveside Service will be held at a later date.

Anneline had a strong sense of social justice, and the power of the church to do God’s work with our hands. She instilled those values in her family, and her children would thus like to direct memorials to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s Relief and Development Programs http://www.elca.org/Our-Work/Relief-and-Development .
