Alexis Paulette Paxton

Alexis Paulette Paxton, 70, died peacefully on June 10th, 2023, in Fargo, ND, from complications due to pancreatic cancer.

Alexis was born on May 17th, 1953, to Dean and Uldine Bagne in Fosston Minnesota. As a child Alexis attended many schools starting with Erskine Elementary, before moving to Alexandria and attending Washington Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, Alexandria Central Junior High; and finally moving to Moorhead, where she attended Moorhead South Junior High, and Moorhead Senior High, from which she graduated in 1964.

On November 24th, 1972, she married her soulmate and best friend, Paul Benjamin Paxton, and on December 13th, 1989, they were blessed when their son, Charles Paxton, joined their lives.

Alexis was described by her loved ones as someone who never let things bother her, even as she fought in her last few years against pancreatic cancer, she never let it get to her. Her doctors noted how she faced it with a smile and determination to fight with such a cheerful attitude, that you couldn’t help but be in a better mood after talking with her. She was a kind, gentle soul who cared for everyone and would treat her son’s best friends as if they were her own.

Alexis had a love for art and spent much of her free days during retirement doing multiple art projects. She loved to teach art and provided lessons to those interested in expressing creativity. She also was a great lover of dogs, and throughout her life cared for 5 different dogs, including her current black goldendoodle, Gypsy.

Her favorite place was the lake cabin. Whether it was taking the boat out to spot birds or pulling Chuck and his friends tubing or water skiing; but nothing beat the 4th of July when the family would all come together to celebrate with food and fireworks.

Alexis was preceded in death by her parents Uldine and Dean Bagne, mother-in-law Patricia Paxton, father-in-law Paul Charles Paxton, and husband Paul Paxton. She is survived by her son Charles, brother Craig Bagne (Diane) and his children: Shawn Bagne, (Craig Ellingson), and Troy Bagne (Angie) all living in Moorhead, MN; sister-in-law Ruth Ann Johnson, (Jeff) Grand Forks ND, and her children: Erin Jostad (Dustin) Fargo ND, Adam Johnson, (Carrie), Denver CO, and Bret Johnson, Fargo ND; and brother-in-law Danny Paxton (Diane Paxton).

The void her kindness left will be felt for a long time by friends and family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the lake cabin July 2nd from 2-4pm, located at 11120 East Lake Ida Lane, Lake Park MN, 56554-9150.
